What's Happening?

Springfield IL (May 24, 2026) And, another busy week for those looking for something to do is ahead.  First of all, Happy Memorial Day!  CORAL requests that everyone take a moment on this day to remember those before us who made a difference great and/or small that we are forever grateful for.

On May 28th, the Levitt AMP concerts begin at the Y-block of Downtown Springfield with a concert with an Americana twist featuring Chloe Kimes from 6:00 to 9:15 p.m.  As many of you may already know, this is the beginning of a series of concerts that will take place every Thursday through July.

On Saturday, May 30th, come on over to Jacksonville and enjoy another Pridefest at Twisted Tree Music Hall from noon to 4:00 p.m.  If you haven’t enjoyed this event in the past, you’re in for a treat.  Many of the booths at the venue are inside the venue or covered by shelter which makes for inclement weather to not be an issue.  Also, on occasion, they may even have the AC running so if you’re not a fan of the heat, you have some comfort inside.  Out of all the Pridefests you may go to, this one is the most comfortable by far.

Also on Saturday, May 30th is the Springfield Cultural Arts Fair at Union Square Park in Downtown Springfield from 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.  This year’s festival is said to be a vibrant celebration of art, culture, and community.  They will have twenty local artists and the Fae Folk Art Collective.  There will also be food trucks serving such items as Filipino dishes from Lumpia Food and Mexican from Jalepeno Express.

On Sunday, May 31st, Black Lives Matter Spi will be conducting their annual Car Procession from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. commencing at the BOS County Parking Lot and ending at Comer Cox Park where there will be food and music to finish the drive off.

Again, also on Sunday May 31st, CORAL will be having another volunteer day at the Animal Protective League from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m.

On another note, June 1st is the beginning of Pride Month so prepare yourself for a month of pride-filled activities ahead.
