CORAL Ends June with a Busy Weekend
Springfield, IL (June 27, 2026) CORAL members have always tried to be everywhere they can, which often means we have to split up at times. This weekend was one of those “divide and conquer” times as members had to decide who was going where.
Two members, Lisa Cotton and Candice Clotfelter, attended the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention’s Volunteer Gathering at the Crowne Plaza to learn about ways to spot those struggling with thoughts of suicide and how to help.
Four other members, Brian Sylvester, April Poole, Rex Schadow, and Roger Ruth, took to the streets, so to speak, to join Springfield Art Association’s Paint the Street event. From 11:00 a.m. to about 4:00 p.m., they painted a six foot by six foot square in front of Clique an artistic approach homage to CORAL. While the weather was cooperative most of the day, the pavement definitely gets warm no matter how much sun is breaking through the cloud cover. By the end of the day, four very tired people were pleased with their final product. It also should be noted that it was appreciated when another member, Lee Korty, arrived to offer cold beverages.
