SPRINGFIELD, IL (June 20, 2020) - It's a tradition that the Coalition of Rainbow Alliances (CORAL) holds a Pride Picnic every June. This year was different, with the limitations on public gatherings and crowd sizes, CORAL had to think outside the box.

This year, CORAL hosted a PRIDE DRIVE, collecting Non-Perishable Food, Personal Hygiene and Household Essentials to be distributed to three local Charitable Organizations: the Central Illinois Foodbank, Fifth Street Renaissance/SARA Center, and the Phoenix Center. The event was held June 20th, from noon to 3:00 pm, at 2115 Yale Boulevard, in front of First Church of the Brethren. The turnout for the event was excellent. Robert Weis reported that over 30 cases of food and supplies were collected and over $3,000 was donated. These donations will be split between the three organizations mentioned above. CORAL wishes to extend a thanks to all of the volunteers for their hard work and a big thank you to all who donated to help the local community.

Established in 2000, the Coalition of Rainbow Alliances (CORAL) is a non-profit volunteer group that facilitates networking for the Central Illinois lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender communities, all other sexual and gender minorities, their family and friends, and the organizations that support them.
