Springfield, IL (January 11, 2026) While CORAL has always attempted to give back to the community as much as it can and 2025 proved to be a year of many donations to organizations and events on a record level.  As many may know, the past year was rough when it came to maintaining financial stability.  With rising costs and more people needing assistance, donations and grants have either slowed or ceased altogether for many. CORAL feels that pain as well as they too live off donations and fundraisers only.  However, over the years, they have attempted to build a cushion of funds for those occasions when emergencies arise.

During their monthly membership meeting on January 11th, a proposal was made to CORAL on how to address the use of those funds to help other organizations at a time of need for them.  The decisions were relatively quick and many members offered to add their own funds to help as well.  The following organizations will each be receiving a donation from CORAL of $1,000.00:

Black Lives Matter

Black Lives Matter’s mission is to nurture, protect, and empower the Black community.  Some of the ways they do this is via youth programs and scholarships, healing programs, and events concentrating on community awareness.

Boys & Girls Club of Central Illinois

Boys & Girls Club of Central Illinois operate in 13 locations throughout Sangamon and Morgan counties. Each day, they serve roughly 1,000+ youth, providing character building activities, academic programs, and healthy activities. All programming is geared towards delivering measurable outcomes that help members become responsible citizens in our community, live healthy lifestyles, and reach their full potential.

Central Illinois Foodbank

The Central Illinois Foodbank was established in 1982 and serves 21 Central and Southern Illinois counties, delivering 8 million meals on an annual basis to those suffering from food insecurities.  Food is delivered to 140 food pantries, soup kitchens, residential and after-school programs annually.

Garvey-Tubman Cultural Arts & Research Center

The Garvey Tubman Cultural Arts and Research Center is dedicated to serving the African American community by offering a robust support system that addresses cultural, educational, emotional, and creative needs with high-quality, child-friendly, and pertinent content.

Helping Hands of Springfield

PBJ Springfield

PBJ Springfield is a nonprofit that organizes volunteers to make the namesake sandwich in bulk batches to hand out at different locations, including at the Washington Street Mission, Salvation Army Shelter, Helping Hands, Contact Ministries or Breadline.

Senior Services of Central Illinois

For over 50 years, Senior Services of Central Illinois has supported seniors living independently. Through offerings to support basic needs, encourage healthy living and enriching lives with socialization, the agency offers the convenience of meeting multiple needs in one agency. The work of Senior Services is important to the community and often crucial to the individuals it supports and serves.

Springfield Immigration Advocacy Network (SIAN)

SIAN is a grassroots advocacy organization that protects the rights and promotes the well-being and inclusion of Springfield’s immigrant and refugee community through advocacy, education, and assistance.

CORAL is grateful and humbled that we can help at a time when so many of our partners and allies could use it.  Together, we can make anything a reality.
