Springfield, IL (December 3, 2022) At this year’s Annual Family Breakfast held at the Embassy Suites in East Peoria, the Acorn Equality Fund gave out 21 scholarships and three grants for a grand total of $37,000.00 while raising $46,900.00 in donations at the event.
The Acorn Equality Fund, established in 1999, is a grassroots nonprofit organization that provides financial support for the advancement of education, health, and civil rights of the LGBTQ and their allies in central and downstate Illinois.
CORAL’s Bert Morton and Lee Korty began funding three of these scholarships in 2018 that is awarded on the basis of academic performance, volunteerism, and political activism.
