Springfield, IL (May, 13, 2023) Blue Cross Blue Shield and CORAL came together at the YMCA from 10:00 a.m. to noon on May 13th to pass out boxes of produce to those in need. This is a service that BCBS has been offering for some time but has reached out to other organizations in the area to assist with the activity.
Two hundred boxes of produce that included such items as apples, oranges, potatoes, carrots, and other fruits and vegetables were passed out in the two hours the event took place. Senator Doris Turner made an appearance to thank everyone and show her appreciation for the efforts towards the community.
CORAL is looking forward to working with BCBS in the near future, possibly July, to once again pass out produce to those in need. Keep an eye out for another announcement if you’re interested in participating or know someone who may be in need.
